Learning to Change video

I found this through one of the blogs I was following from Lucy Gray. I agree that we have entered a global world in our classrooms without some of the teachers realizing it fully. It seems that students are going to use their ipods, iphones, etc. outside of our classroom regardless of our interference with school rules for usage.

The whole "ban" technology debate is an interesting one for educators, students and parents. Here is an article from the New York Sun that examines the issue as it unfolds in that city. I tend to agree with many of the ideas presented - we have to find ways to teach students how they can be used to learn because they are the tools of their generation.

As consultant and futurist, David Thornburg suggests, what educators are experiencing is written right on the keys of the computer: "control" "shift". Today's learners are demanding a shift in control that is going to change the educational system in ways that it has never been able to change before.
